How much does a private chauffeur-guide tour of Sri Lanka cost?
A private journey with Sonrisa typically works out at US$80–160 per day for two travelers for your vehicle, professional chauffeur-guide, fuel and planning — hotels are then added at the level you prefer, from charming guesthouses to luxury boutiques. You receive one itemized quote, fixed in writing before you book.
What exactly does Sonrisa do that a driver alone doesn't?
Three things: we match you with the right professional guide for your language, interests and family (not just whoever is available); we design and price the whole journey fairly using 15 years of inside-industry knowledge; and we stay personally involved throughout your trip, adjusting things in real time. The guide is one ingredient — the managed, cared-for journey is the product.
When is the best time to visit Sri Lanka?
There is no wrong month — Sri Lanka has two coasts with opposite seasons. December to March is glorious on the south and west; May to September belongs to the east coast, and the cultural heartland and hill country welcome you all year. Tell us your dates and we'll design around the best of that season.
How does booking work?
Message us on WhatsApp and you’ll be offered a free 15-minute planning call. You'll receive a day-by-day itinerary with a fixed, itemized price. A small deposit confirms your dates; the balance is payable when you're comfortable. Every term is in writing.
Can we change the plan during the trip?
Your days are completely flexible; your hotels are planned. Once hotels are confirmed they generally can’t be moved because of cancellation policies — which is exactly why we design and agree your route with you carefully before booking anything. Within each day, though, the freedom is all yours: skip a sightseeing stop, stay longer at a viewpoint, or trade an afternoon of temples for the hotel pool. Your guide adjusts happily.
We saw the “Sri Lanka 800” online — is that the right way to see the island?
A round-island loop is a wonderful way to travel Sri Lanka if you have 10–14 days, and our Grand Island Loop covers everything that route is loved for — with better pacing and hand-picked stays. With less time, a week-long journey covers the heart of it; with special interests we’ll design something more personal than any named route.
Do you arrange trips for families and older travelers?
It's one of our favourite things to do. We plan around nap times, mobility, connecting rooms and food preferences, and we match guides who are wonderful with children and unhurried with grandparents.
